I think one downfall I have concerning my walk with Christ is how I let opportunities to share my faith pass without even realizing it. Picture this. It’s monday morning, you’re in class - tired as ever. Your friend asks you what you did this weekend. You tell him about your philosophy paper and how your brother broke your iPod. You tell him that you went skating and visited your grandparents. But do you tell them that you went to church on Sunday and played piano on the worship team? What about the fact that you went to youth on Friday night. Sure, these things may seem insignificant because your friend wouldn’t understand or really take any interest but what if they did? What if they asked what church was about or what you learned at youth? What if by telling your friend that you spent your Friday night learning about the Bible’s description of love instead of spending it at a river party - like everyone else - you were to plant a seed that would eventually grow to become something beautifully driven to serve Christ. What if? Don’t let the little opportunities pass you by. Bring your Bible to class to read when you’re done assignments, pray in the middle of the cafeteria at lunchtime, listen to worship music on your iPod. Live and breathe Christ. Things like this will open doors for people to question you because their curiosity is inevitable. And if they mock you.. so what? Have you forgotten that “blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you” (Matthew 5:11-12).
